But goddammit, Stede has been gone for over three hours and Ed is bored and lonely and horny. It's a notoriously dangerous combination for him. If he's ended up in A&E for sex-related mishaps more than once, well. Ed will admit to nothing. It's not his fault Stede leaves him home alone for hours on end, with only his vivid imagination for company. His vivid imagination, and the Henry Hoover sat beneath the stairs. Actually, it's not a Henry Hoover, it's a Stede Hoover. A Stoover, if you will. It's a custom that Ed got for Stede's birthday a couple of months ago, a sky blue hoover with STEDE emblazoned across the front, above the big, round eyes and wide smile. It's been eyeing him all afternoon. Maybe others would see its unblinking stare as one of friendly encouragement, a "Come on friend, it's time to vacuum the house! We can do it!" sort of vibe. However, Ed sees something... Different. Something more. There's a cheeky suggestiveness to that smile, a faux-innocence betrayed by the quirk of its eyebrows. Its gaze follows Ed around the room, and whenever he makes eye-contact with it, it's like it's beckoning him towards it. There's a challenge in that gaze. An invitation, even. It might as well be waggling its hose at him, curled up in a come hither motion.

After having a picnic beside the Grand Canal of Versailles, they decided to rent a rowboat out on the water. Ed was very insistent that he should be the one to row; all Stede had to do was sit there and look pretty with his parasol and enjoy the view, Ed would take care of the rest. Stede is certainly enjoying the view, but it isn’t the one that Ed meant. No, Stede’s gaze is fixed only on the flex of his muscles, the captivating way that his snake tattoo undulates with each stroke, the sheen of sweat down his neck and chest. On second thoughts, this is exactly what Ed meant, isn’t it? There’s a smug little smile tugging at the corners of his lips – the greedy menace, he’s captured Stede’s attention all for himself, beautiful scenery around them be damned.
