In Spanish, “haber” and “tener” are different. “Haber” shows existence: “Hay un libro en la mesa” (There is a book on the table). “Tener” shows possession: “Tengo un libro en la mesa” (I have a book). Don’t say “Hay mi libro”, but “Tengo mi libro”.
