I think every part of the health system could do with massive reform but at its basis healthcare - specifically to sustain living and not like cryotherapy for athletes or whatever - should be treated as a social service, and unbound from the requirement, or goal of profit.

honestly i think it’s largely a product of socioeconomic status and the parent’s own mental health. anecdotally - in my family, as the parents became more monetarily stable they basically stopped corporal punishment among other changes. when making rent isn’t uncertain, things change.

One of my biggest issues with the explosion of AI recently is it seems like the only thing people are trying to use it for is to ensure we don’t have to pay other humans for their knowledge and labor, and not to benefit our society as a whole. Not even mentioning the insane energy impact it has…

To be frank, i feel like the outcome of this will have less to do with antitrust and more to do with the political actions of google’s leadership. Especially because Lina Khan’s FTC and their strong stances are about 5 feet under with the full burial coming in January.
