So many people bought into this! One of the most famous spirit photographs is of Mary Todd Lincoln, with her assassinated husband behind her. Known Spiritualist, Mary Todd believed that this image was truly of her husband.

Spirit Photography was essentially photographers double exposing glass plates in a way that made it look like there was a ghostly figure in the image. There were people who specialized in Spirit Photography and claimed they could show you deceased your loved ones
