Just some guy who likes horor novels, cult movies, shoegaze, and comic books.
Man, it's great to know that Ardal O'Hanlon is a good egg. It's nice to see that outside of Linehan, the Father Ted crew seems to be pretty cool people. The less said about The IT Crowd though the better.

A man finding a woman attractive is now gay?

Either his reading comprehension is really poor or he doesn't actually care about women's safety.

The older I get the more I see that haterd really does poison the soul and removes the ability to see beauty in the world. JCO puts into words what I have been feeling and noticing for a while now.

The exact same thing she wrote about Musk could be said of JK Rowling and Graham Linehan. They seem to take absolutely no joy from life (bar from punching down on a minority). For creatives, when was the last time they recommended a book, a film, a play, an album, a painting or even just a song.

The Guardian is always talking out of both sides of its mouth.

I don't think there was ending this year that put a bigger smile on my face. I know it has its flaws, but I love that movie. It just gets Superman so well

This just seems... misjudged. I know there are still those that thinks he is innocent...but c'mon...

I would imagine Joe Dante at 78 just doesn't want to direct a big budget, effects heavy movie? I hope that is the case, rather than Dante getting snubbed.

Real life America is now basically a worse version of Robocop's dystopian America

I love this film,on some days I even prefer it over Re-Animator. It is alot sexier, weirder and scarier. Cosmic horror is just more my bag.

The old "washed up and disgraced celebrity trying to appeal to right wingers" trick again. How long do we give it until James Franco and Jonathan Majors attempt to become "anti-woke" artists/ agitators (yawn) ?

Is the hero worship of politicians an American phenomenon ? It is not something that really occurs in Ireland ? It feels weird to worship what are basically civil servants (and I am saying that as a civil servant myself).
November 5, 2025 at 5:04 PM
It's the same in Ireland. When Catherine Connolly won the presidential election, the media's focus was less on the achievement of a left wing candidate winning, and more on "where did Fine Gael and Fianna Fail go wrong?". It's depressing that the right wing parties are seen as the default setting.

Honestly, once somebody hates one minority, they eventually learn to hate others. Scratch a transphobe, and you'll a find a racist or sexist or homophobe or Islamphobe. If you surround yourself with, and can only find support from those also fuelled by hatred; their targets will become your targets.

I know that it would be an easy paycheck and all, but seriously how well would an audiobook recording even pay? Even if we're working from the premise that they don't care about transpeople, surely they must understand the bad press they will get and the impact on their legacy for a piddling check.

And it's not like there haven't been examples of film critics becoming filmmakers before. Also while I have never seen any of his videos, so I cannot judge the quality of his work, youtube critics can be just as good, thoughtful, and legit as written criticism, just look at Fantano

Pulse is a great and depressingly prescient movie. I don't think any other film captures the soul crushing loneliness of the terminally online. It's probably also the zero year for the liminal horror of the likes of Skinamarink, analog horror, and the work of Jane Schoenbrun.

I dunno. I would imagine he would at least admire the craft of Promethus, even if it did kind of kill his At the Mountain of Madness dream project.
