While the New Mexico state government offers temporary financial aid, other sources of funding is needed to properly provide for Native and frontline communities.

Prior to budget cuts, New Mexico received $200 million a year from the federal government. The federal government owes Tribes and Pueblos $316 billion. These losses amount to devastating gaps in communities.

Despite the harms of this bill, we want to celebrate years-long advocacy culminating in the provision renewing and expanding the Radioactive Exposure Compensation Act (RECA), benefiting many Indigenous and frontline communities.
