I got into Tom Robbins in high school when a friend loaned me Still Life With Woodpecker and was absolutely thrilled that I ended up going to college at VCU, which is where he went (it was the RPI then). (He was also at W&L for a bit.) His work was weird and surreal and it made me very happy.
