it isn’t the fault of the tech person (or bot) I’ve been talking to. no need being mad at them. rather, some bean counter figured this strategy would be a good way to get more of my beans.

it wasn’t a failure of equipment or some errant connectivity issue. hp turned it off. it’s working just as they intended.

ah! mystery solved. we do nearly no printing. i got tired of throwing money at their printing supply subscription service. so i canceled a few months ago, and hp turned off the perfectly good cartridges in my printer. it didn’t break. hp turned it off and has really irritated me over $7/month.

fear not, for i’m chatting with hp support in the hopes they can find out why the printer is unwilling to perform the function for which it is named.

well NO SHIT, hp app. that’s why I’m here - for you to tell me what the error is. you can talk to the printer. I can’t. point your 1s and Os toward the printer and find out wtf is wrong.

my hp printer shows an error of some kind. so i open the app that communicates with the printer to find out what’s going on. the hp app tells me the printer has an error and i should check the printer.
