Defending liberalism from both extremes, and the rights that are afforded to them to have those views. Do not stand by quietly while your country is taken from you, make your voice heard!
Private property is in a weird space for me personally. I think there should be, such as homes and businesses (outside of capitalism you still need some for of business for the production of goods), but that basically everything else including government property should be publicly owned

I’ve actually been meaning to! I’ve been reading John Dewey recently. He’s a liberal thinker from the post reconstruction/WW1 era that puts a lot of emphasis on economic inequality. I’m getting there, I just wish there was more time.

My only concern about direct democracy is the populations knowledge base, but honestly basically anything is better than the direction we’re heading in right now. I’m hopeful about our chances of getting through without violence, but not optimistic.

It is important to note that their is still hierarchy in these movements though, which is what I was getting at
February 23, 2025 at 6:02 AM
Ideally, of course. But at that point it is just anarchy because people don’t inherently act in the interest of the group. We are inherently selfish beings. I’m not for political parties or leaders but democratic government is important. Human psychology does not mesh with the end game unfortunately

The capitalist nations usurping is a given. The charismatic leader part though is (I’d argue) part of the human psychology problem I mentioned before. A movement/group is much easier to get behind and much more organized when you do have some consolidation of power.

Yeah, post Cold War and the Red scare really screwed us over on the economic front. Incremental change is the only way that we can make lasting change (imo)
February 23, 2025 at 5:40 AM
Obviously it’s happened under capitalism, it is right now. I don’t know how we (as humans) get to a psychological point where that just doesn’t happen. I don’t know that it ever will get there, though I do hope what is to come will wipe out these disgusting ideologies (Nazi/maga) for good this time.
February 23, 2025 at 5:39 AM
Right, which is why I agree with a lot of what he says about economics. What holds me back personally is the governmental side of things. I know that people will try to take advantage of that system for their own desires. Historically it’s been easier in social/communist countries. (1/2)

I wouldn’t say I’m completely post capitalist (though at where we are at right now, i am). How much do you know about how Norway handles what you listed above? Ideally (<heavy emphasis) we’d move towards something like that and inclemently get towards true Marxist communism.
February 23, 2025 at 5:16 AM
Yeah… that’s why I specifically carved out that one area. Again, I don’t disagree in principle. Having no economic hierarchy without the other ideas i laid out would lead to societal unrest though, undoubtedly. It’s not just about the economy.

Marxism and liberalism are not mutually exclusive though, and continuing to believe so would only lead to the things we saw out of the USSR and the Russia of today where people are thrown out of windows and disappeared.
Believing in gender and racial equality is liberal. (2/2)

The only part of liberal ideology that has to do with capitalism is ownership of land. Rights of the individual, consent of the governed, political equality, and equality before the law are all things that would get you closer to those. I don’t even disagree with what you’re saying. (1/2)
February 23, 2025 at 4:34 AM
These are two seperate ideologies. Liberalism (and federalism) is what this country was founded on. (Almost) every single person on the left aligns with liberal ideology. Find out what these words mean before you start dunking on your fellow liberals, we are not centrists 🫶(2/2)

This comment section is concerning. I am a liberal, I’d consider myself a Socdem Liberal specifically. Any TRUE liberal is in favor of basically every single policy that people like Bernie Sanders and AOC want to implement. IMO this is due to the conflation of neoliberalism and Liberalism.(1/2)

Hegseth is just an online troll with too much political power

“I told you so” except it doesn’t matter because they don’t actually care. It was never about being anti war.
February 5, 2025 at 3:03 AM
Nah let’s have the conversation, because what the actual FUCK is Trump talking about right now😭

I need to start looking at accounts before responding my bad🤣

I can’t tell if this is sarcastic, but article 1 of the constitution gives the senate the power to allocate funds, the treasury is the mechanism in which those actually get distributed
