i like art!
she/her
"Spinning Silver" by Naomi Novik

listened to the audiobook read by Katy Sobey, and my, does she do a fantastic job! i also liked the eastern european/slavic setting for a fairy tale as well as the female perspective on historical fantasy and fairy tales. good book!

"Nerd Girl Magic" by Simoné Goldschmidt-Lechner.

this book is about fandom spaces and dynamics, but from the perspective of a woman of colour in Germany. as western fandoms are often culturally influenced or even dominated by the US, i jumped on the chance to read about fandoms in Germany

"Kuruma no Musume" by Rin Usami.

i don't think this has been translated to english yet. i read the german translation and found it quite relatable in some instances. not a fun read but a good one.

"Tin Man" by Sarah Winman.

i read a translation of this, so maybe the original is a whole lot better, but i found this book underwhelming at best. got hooked by the van gogh on the cover

"The Foxhole Court" by Nora Sakavic.

some of my friends love this series, so i finally started reading it myself. i don't have an opinion on it yet as i've only read the first book and i feel like i can only judge it once i've read the subsequent two.

it has me like 🤨 so far tho

"Nettle & Bone" by T. Kingfisher

fun little listen, i really liked the premise! what i feel is lacking in T. Kingfisher's novels imho so far is actually delivering on the world building. a lot of cool things just get mentioned but not expanded on, and that makes her books a little bit hollow to me

"Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke

REALLY good book, especially as audiobook read by Chiwetel Ejiofor! i am confused about the ending though, but that doesn't bother me.
October 30, 2025 at 7:58 PM
"The Annual Migration of Clouds" and "These Lifeless Things" by Premee Mohamed

i really liked both! i especially like how the author has the narrators only recount the incomplete picture. there are many questions we as readers don't get an answer to at all, but i really enjoyed that about both

"The Broposal" by Sonora Reyes

i loved this! i got it on sale as audiobook bc i thought it sounded fun, and it WAS fun! the threat of looming deportation made the book have substance, to me, and i imagine that for a lot of people this topic hits very close to home.

"Cultish" and "The Age of Magical Overthinking" by Amanda Montell.

i have a personal interest in these topics and i found these books to be written accessibly - in a light-hearted pop-sci-journalist tone - and once i learned about these strategies and fallacies, i would notice them EVERYWHERE

"all about love" by bell hooks

this was my first book by bell hooks, got it in a sale. not quite what i expected, given her reputation, but an interesting listen. i especially like the quote "love is as love does". that one lives in my head rent-free
October 30, 2025 at 7:35 PM
"The Spear Cuts Through Water" by Simon Jimenez

almost didn't finish this one because the brutality and cruelty, at times, was too much for me. but i'm glad that i did, because it is an interesting story, written in an interesting way, and i did get invested in the characters, too
October 30, 2025 at 7:32 PM
"Greta & Valdin" by Rebecca K. Reilly

fun listen, fairly low-stakes but still not without substance. i picked it especially becaus while the protagonists are queer, the story isn't about queer pain or suffering, but just a slightly bonkers family doing their thing the best way they can

"Hijab Butch Blues" by Lamya H

i loved it! listened to the audiobook and the narrator Ashraf Shirazi did an amazing job!
October 30, 2025 at 7:23 PM
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern - i disliked it very much! some of the small story vignettes i liked. especially the first one, the one the book starts out with, as read by Dion Graham, it really caught me and then the rest of the book was just... that... not for me at all!
October 30, 2025 at 7:20 PM
at the start of the year i still had my audible and these books were included in the sub. i am an absolute sucker for paladins and these were fun little listens. fave little tidbit: Paladin Stephen has a co-paladin called Istvahn, which is the hungarian version of Stephen, so it's Steve & Steve :D

my roomie and I finally put up my favorite print i got last year at dokomi by @myrdrottningen.bsky.social

fun fact, i interned at an art museum and us interns were allowed to make custom frames, so this print is framed in a handmade frame with hand-cut passepartout! it deserves no less 😤

i've been trying my hand at inking with a dip pen lately, testing out different nibs

the first study was drawn with a deleter tama-nib, the second with a deleter g-pen and the last with the brause steno 361/blue pumpkin (and my fingertips :D )

Normally I wouldn't post these sketches AT ALL - they're way too rough and unfinished BUT--

I'm feeling spiteful because of the new TOS and #bskycensorship

So here, have some OCs canoodling CONSENSUALLY I guess, they told me so themselves 🙄

If you see this, post something pink! 🌸

I drew this a few years ago for a spring themed drawing event at my department at uni :) There are pink cherry blossoms in my town, too 🌸
