That might be the most well-placed shot I’ve ever seen

Morris otoh is a huge loss and it’s unfortunate that we have no way to deal with that. Attack is DOA without him
April 6, 2025 at 5:42 AM
Idk, Arriola wasn’t good against anyone other than Antigua. He wasn’t a great attacker for DC or Dallas, just decent. If he’s a key player for your attack, that says a lot about the other options
April 6, 2025 at 5:41 AM
Are we sure they have a top 5 roster? It’s not like we’re plagued by injuries, Morris is the only proven player who is out. Rusnak has played well but De la Vega and Ferreira haven’t shown much yet
April 6, 2025 at 3:45 AM
One big issue is that Dreyer and Lozano are better than any player the Sounders have added since Lodeiro. We don’t have the horses to be at the same level as the best teams in the league, especially without Morris who is the closest thing we have
April 6, 2025 at 3:41 AM
Completely fell apart in the last 5-10 minutes though. Can’t do that
April 6, 2025 at 3:31 AM
There will also be issues with a 3-1-5-1 against opponents with real defenders who can ride the pressure long enough to start counterattacks, but it’s more fun to watch and I think our players are good enough to pull it off against most MLS teams anyway

I pretty much agree, but I think it looked better when we

1) Pushed the outside CBs wider
2) Abandoned the double pivot and pushed Obed higher

The problems we have in establishing field position and attacking with numbers stem from the fact that a 3-2-5 with a narrow “3” is easy to stymie
March 30, 2025 at 8:13 PM
They hit 26 in the 3-2 comeback against Dallas in 2024. I don’t think they’ve ever had more than that, but not positive
March 30, 2025 at 6:23 AM
Playing him as a 9 with Rusnak and Roldan as your other attackers makes no sense. He might do better with Rothrock and Georgi
March 30, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Ferreira’s best performances at the 9 have come with Arriola, Obrian, Pulisic, Weah, Kamungo, Velasco on the wings. All of these are direct threats off the ball on the run except for Velasco, who was the least effective of these players
March 30, 2025 at 6:20 AM
The movement in the box is crucial even if he misses chances
March 30, 2025 at 4:40 AM
Yeah he’s flawed but brings a lot more than Ferreira at the 9, at least with how we set up. Needs to start for now.

A bunch of the games this last weekend were definitely done remotely. I think the first four weeks were almost all in-person
March 24, 2025 at 8:56 PM
Rothrock should not ever be playing as a wingback. Roldan should not be an attacker. Every decision we make is primed on making sure we never concede a goal at the expense of only creating one chance per match
March 23, 2025 at 5:53 AM
Schmetzer’s coaching has been very poor in some of these games. No reason to play a conservative set-up in these games. We don’t really need to build out with 4 players in front of the first line of pressure and yet we do that every time
March 23, 2025 at 5:51 AM
I think this was the best of his last 3 or 4 Sounders games. Portland away and LAFC here last season were really bad
March 23, 2025 at 4:52 AM
Even as a Sounders fan this one is brutal. One of the worst no-calls of all time 😂
March 17, 2025 at 6:06 PM
This is the kind of thing that happens when you either score or concede on the first shot of the game in all 4 games (this isn’t literally what has happened but it’s pretty close to true)
March 17, 2025 at 4:52 PM
Only Miami, Columbus, and Cincy won more road matches than they tied or lost in 2024
March 14, 2025 at 7:38 PM
They’ve won a majority of their regular season games three times in 16 seasons.

Last season was one of the most top-heavy seasons ever, and only 5 out of 29 teams won a majority of their games, which includes home games
March 14, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Well they’ve won 9+ away games twice in 13 34 match seasons, and have the best away record of any team in MLS in that time. You have to win 9 away games to have more wins than ties+losses
