I can hardly believe what you say: that Burrow has been around for 6 seasons. I feel like I've scarcely had a good look at him. Like I'm still waiting to see what he can do if he ever sticks around long enough to do it.

I don't know your battle—but I know what my battles have been, & the battles of friends in support groups. I've seen people absolutely refuse to give in & sometimes come to great grief over it. Roll with the punches. Forgive your frailty. Be at peace with being separate from the world for awhile.

these folks aren't noted for having reasoned through anything.

I was a Lightfoot fan living in Winnipeg when I heard about this disaster. Recently I found a lot online about it. & there's a deep dive into it on Wikipedia—especially about how they found the wreck on the lake bottom & all the research & theories into what went wrong & how & why & when.

Dan's had his own show since doing battle long ago with ESPN. He's getting old now, with some health problems; is planning to shut it all down in a couple of years. I think the show functions as reliable companionship for a lot of lonely sports fans—of which there seem to be so many in our country.

Dan—in his older age—tends to make most conversations revert to him & his difficult childhood. that's not new. but all of a sudden he broke off from the pity party & wondered aloud how he got there. Most of the charm of that show is how the Danettes unobtrusively steer him off in odd directions.

on the Dan Patrick Show the other day they were talking about the various kinds of mustard, & after just a few minutes Dan was almost crying about how he had to wear the too-small suit of an older brother to take some girl to the prom & her father almost laughed at him when he knocked on their door.

regardless of their tough talk & legalese, I'll be very surprised if lots of states don't tell the USDA to go fuck itself. It boggles my mind that the Trump Administration is so deluded as to believe that yanking food out of the mouths of hungry people is a winning posture. this ain't great optics.

this feels like a watershed moment. Oregon sent out the benefits immediately during the brief window. I'm guessing that the benefits are already largely used & spent. No way are states—at least some states—going to try to claw back those benefits. Maybe some red states will. that will go down well.
