I always wonder if it is some neurodivergent trait of me..

I was excited for Elden Ring in an unhealthy way. Like really bad. But my expectations kept changing from an empty, flat world to a way more ambitious one than we got.

And it still turned out to be one of my favorite games.

I honestly can't really remember to be ever so disappointed, that it traumatized me for the rest of my life. :D

It's mostly a feeling of "oh damn, that's not what i wanted" and then i look forward to something else. And if i really like it, i just do.

Oh yeah, that's fair.

It's just that people handle things differently. I really enjoy being excited for something. Of course the highlight in the end is the experience itself.
And of course for many people when they get overly excited they can end up being disappointed in the end.

I get it.

I've been invaded by assholes. I read comments and posts, by ppl bragging how toxic they are.

But i'm just a silly person who likes to put on a fancy dress & plays a cowardly assassin or a crazy lady with a big hammer to stir some chaos in other ppl's game

having said that, the "comic relief" and the other NPCs in the latest trailer made it really hard for me to stay positive, i must admit.

I just try to tell myself now, not to expect "Metroid" and just a fun and silly game in a Metroid skin... but i will definitely wait this one out..

Assuming that upcoming games are good makes feel nice and comfy in my stomach.

Being "a doomer" for weeks and months and then being excited for 40-ish hours does not sound great to me.

I even know people who only then liked a game "in hindsight" which sounds even worse tbh.

do you have to fulfill some daily GTA 6 article quota that is not about layoffs and union busting?

thanks, i basically totally agree with what you wrote there. It's a thing which i complain about a lot as well (also terms like "overrated", debates about metascores etc.)

it's not like people in real life are not also getting confused by somewhat vague statements and then start interpreting silly things into it. :D

Does it not matter because scores are stupid? or does the outlet not matter? or other reasons?

my reaction would have been to see the post and go "huh? ok whatever".

but others react differently when they are confused.
