Inspired by the Grok fiasco, combined with a recent workshop experience in which a speaker claimed a link between AI and the collective unconscious - a claim made by an actual Jungian practitioner.

No.

With the absolute evisceration of the LNP last night there are going to be a million hot takes out there on what happened and is happening in Australia. So why not add one more?

Psyche is the Greek word for ‘soul’, and logos the word for ‘speech’; and the term ‘psychology’, considered in the context of its etymological roots, bears little resemblance to some of the perspectives now offered in the academy.~Liz Greene

In session today, there was a moment that I emitted a pensive 'hmmmmm' and simultaneously adjusted my glasses from the side, in a way someone might parody being a therapist. I couldn't help but laugh at myself. Fortunately I did this with a client who also appreciated the moment of levity.

We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.

Letting go of someone who isn’t making an effort isn’t giving up – it’s matching tone.

Investing in another person involves being honest with yourself, vulnerable with another, and having internal stability; foundational emotional skills for forming healthy relationship.

Self-love is…

Letting people hold the place in your life that they ask for with their behaviour.

Don’t try to make or keep someone a character in your story when they bring footnote energy.

Let footnotes be footnotes. Move on to the next chapter.

My previous career was in public health/population research and epidemiology… the macro, the big picture, the patterns.

Then I turned back towards my other great fascination – the psyche – and became a psychotherapist… the micro, the individual, and also of course, the patterns.

Lack of healthy boundaries and mutual enabling of distorted patterns of relating has long been the regular foundation of relationships; familial, friendly, and romantic. This is breaking down, evidenced by younger generations going no contact with parents, and women choosing to be single.

I have a wonderful metaphor in play currently for a therapeutic process.
I have a case of periocular dermatitis. For an embarrassingly long time, I have been using steroid cream on it, the worst possible treatment.
It suppresses the rash, but it stops it from healing, and makes it spread.
