burnmysoulout Where the FUCK are my other friends? Why am I here? I like to write terrible Bad Omen fics.
He refers to Ham as all the things he did his previous love, while also learning money cannot buy relationships through him. Baby that's love.

I forgot to mention, Aladdin refers to his past love as a beautiful (Hamelin's whole thing but honestly this means nothing) but also saw her as a business partner..... which he did Hamelin.

They offered each other comfort and closure, until you, the player give them the final one to one and put them to rest.

END yikes this got longer than I wanted it to.

There are many elements that can make you think it was platonic or even romantic, though I think the latter was either unrequited or telling each other what they did in Act of SINo was them trying their best, as a friend once said. Sadly, they are doomed. But they found final comfort in each other.

CONCLUSION: Both men have parallels in both universes. They got close in Library because they were what they needed before. They bring the best in each other out, and their whatevership was developed in a way that feels natural. Two materialistic men teaching the other how to love under the surface.

It was also said once their designs conflict but reflect the other. Ala is bright, flashy, Ham is conservative and dark. Ala's breaker looks Ham-inspired, and both have a similar flower pattern in their outfits. I think these could also be reaches, though, so I hesitated adding them.

Hamelin's message does not do this though, so likely it's us which makes more sense given the rest are and it's their farewell messages essentially, but I think it's important to remember Hamelin also taught him this. I feel like it isn't a stretch he is referring to both, and not one or the other.
January 4, 2025 at 5:31 AM
In Desire, they are the odd-ones out, standing just with each other in one last hoorah. Interestingly, in the pull-message, Ala tells the player he learned one thing money could not buy but cannot tell us because it's confidential. I think this is really the player, but he says this to Ham, too.
January 4, 2025 at 5:29 AM
They are partners. They hold each other, clearly confident in that boundary with the other now. They take a moment to look at each other, and it is Christmas Eve.... the most romantic holiday of the year. THE couple's holiday. I feel like this could have been show-don't-tell. Who knows, though?

Hamelin finds genuine beauty in Ala, constantly praising him, telling him he's impressive and beautiful, without labeling what it was on the outside he truly wanted. He meant that. And finally, Ala and Ham realize they are doomed. They make a promise off-screen.
January 4, 2025 at 5:22 AM
Ala's entire thing until now is regret for the princess and coping with her loss by putting money before anything else, claiming it can even by love. He eventually accepts she is gone, and Ham offers him final closure, teaching him money and love are not hand in hand.
January 4, 2025 at 5:20 AM
What is most important here though, is that Ala says Ham and his relationship is something that cannot be bought with money. It was invaluable. It was no longer materialistic or superficial. It was Ham who taught him these things cannot be bought. And Ham learns beauty is beyond the surface.

Both genuinely believed in each other. This is also shown in the DJ side story I nearly forgot about, where Ala focused heavily once again on Ham and no one else, wanted VIP tickets to see him, wanting to try business with him someday, and despite it ending in disaster, Ala still defended Ham.
January 4, 2025 at 5:17 AM
They do everything together, and to quote my friend, got as far as they did in politics and power, because they did it together. Both men make it clear to the player their feelings for the other lie beyond the surface, something new for them. Be it platonic or romantic. They pick up speech patterns.

So finally we;re nearing the end. We knew their meeting would be important, and Doro is also important. I will need to TLDR their main story together because too much happened. They come to the world two years before anyone else and live together. At this point, they call each other partners.
January 4, 2025 at 5:12 AM
Their fights with Rapu also were interesting. Ala only loved her at a superficial level, as did she to him. Reality Ala thought she looked too much like his sister, so nothing happens. Ham has turned her down several times. Ala dies selfishly for her, she dies for Ham who just wanted her powers.
January 4, 2025 at 5:11 AM
Only by coincidence do they run back into the girls after someone in the VR world says they should go to the main event... TOGETHER. It was also weird Ham supported Ala's crypt0 scheme. It was also discovered in his staff story the art was ayeye, he hated it. But he genuinely enjoyed being there.
January 4, 2025 at 5:07 AM
And once again, despite there being three other characters, to them only each other matter. Ala takes him to an art museum, where Hamelin is all art. It is endless and goes on and on and on. Just the two of them. Ham says it is endless but Ala says "let's do it anyway!" and talk for hours.
January 4, 2025 at 5:05 AM
It has been pointed out by players in both communities both wear vampire costumes and Ala is actually wearing Ham's lifeforce color... while Ala does wear purple in his outfit, it is not this one. This is Ham's color, the color of his essence. I like whoever did the art for these classes had fun.
January 4, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Another interesting thing is that Pino has pointed out their tension, and then again their closeness to Gretel, and Snow and Doro are aware in side stories or VR itself they are getting close. VR mirrors their first event well. This event has the two hip to hip... again, a common occurrence together
January 4, 2025 at 4:59 AM
By now we know the two have been having some time off screen together. And it's clear this has transformed into friendship. But also, it was hinted on a stream that these two men would meet and be important later on. I won't add the s3xual stuff clearly there just for fan service. It's irrelevant.
January 4, 2025 at 4:56 AM
Time passes and both mention the other in a few things. Sleeping mentions Ala once told her Ham can be rather picky when she and Kaguya made him chocolate (Reminder over there, girls give choco on V-day). Hamelin was rooting for him in the BB collab, and Aladdin thinks of Ham checking himself out.
January 4, 2025 at 4:53 AM
It was a brief misunderstanding. Earlier in the event, Ala would even defend Ham to the other characters. A common theme from even the start is that when they are together, nothing else matters. They have their playful hunt competition and get carried away, Ala only cares about Hamelin in DJ, VR...
January 4, 2025 at 4:51 AM
So how do these two men react when they see each other for the first time post-death in reality? Well, we know they are foils. Later, it works, because they bring the better in each other out.

But first impressions are everything, and they didn't have the best. Which makes their story more natural.

His Reality counterpart is intense. He deals with rel1g1on trauma, hopelessness, and he makes it clear to us immediately he almost thought about dy1ng. Like Reality Ala needed someone to just appreciate him as him, Reality Ham needed the same. He needed to relax and embrace himself without others.
