I understand your gripe with my statements, he’s absolutely a plus defender, he’s shown that. but lest we forget that the Yankees would prefer that their 6’7”, 280lb, $400m captain not risk his whole body to go balls to the wall on defense. He’s still an intelligent outfielder and we can’t discount.

I’m saying that I believe defensive metrics carry less credit than you’re giving due to their flawed requirements

Defensive metrics favor fielders that cover a lot of ground and run fast - the best fielders aren’t just the ones who can cover ground, it’s experience/scouting reports in there that put you in a better position pre-pitch to get an out. Defensive metrics are inherently flawed for these reasons to me

Idk man, in the same line up, I think teams are more afraid to pitch to/lose to Judge. They’re both ++Defenders for sure. I think the edge went the correct way.
