Somewhere I do have videos of their first experience with snow
I flew us to Jackson Hole, where I have a condo and introduced them to the snow. They lost their minds

For all the chaos that at times, comes with having dogs, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I have always believed that I am at my best with a dog or dogs in my universe.
Can’t explain it but I do better when I have my dogs with me. I take Abner and Milton everywhere.

Truth.
I have seen my neighbor get dumped her little schnauzer. He’s the gentleest soul ever but if he gets spooked, watch out!!

First time Abner went after a squirrel and I had no warning. He took off, down I went but I hung onto his leash.
Broke two right ribs on sidewalk.
2nd time was same right side. Abner chased squirrel and WHAM down I went. Still hung into the leash though.

I spent over 8K having both boys trained. They are both exceptionally well behaved. I can (but don’t) walk them off leash just fine
However, when Abner detects a squirrel (he can smell them like 100 ft away) or Milton detects a bird, all bets are off. Milton will “hold” at my side

Abner is over 90lbs and exceptionally strong. Add to that, the fact that he has generations of conditioning to hunt birds and rodent type animals and you get the perfect squirrel detector. lol 😝

I do not hunt
As a teen, friends tried to bring me into the whole hunting thing but I just can’t kill animals for sport. It’s wrong and I will never have any part of that sort of shit
I donate yearly to several anti poaching outfits overseas which shall we say, shoot back in defense of the animals

As a kid, teen and young adult in the Midwest, I had many friends from farms.
Some had English Setters and I grew up with them.
Finally, at 50, I pulled the trigger on getting two. I love them!!
They are however, obsessed with birds, squirrels etc.
When I say obsessed, I mean it. 😂
