They showed a cut back to the early 1990's (after Kurt Cobain died, so more mid-90's), and the young version of the dad (David Schwimmer?) was shown as maybe 12/13, when the actor was playing a lead around 30 on Friends at that time. Just a weird sort of millennial anachronism.

It's a frustrating experience to retell the same people every day.
