I would respond in two ways:

1. I don't agree with just-enough-ism. I want the satisfaction of human needs to expand until it reaches immortality.

2. Degrowthers come on a very wide spectrum, which makes it feel like a bit of a constant motte-and-bailey tbh. Some versions are better than others.

Just started reading this book, which is about the history of atheism in antiquity (yes, contrary to popular belief, atheism is not a recent phenomenon). It focuses mostly on ancient Greece and Rome, because those are the most well-documented regions in antiquity,
