Happy anniversary of the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster!
After the piece focusing on Aloy's relationship to Elisabet, I thought it only fitting to give Rost the stage this time.

Rost and a young Aloy standing together. Aloy has a fresh wound on her forehead from the rock Bast throws at her, blood running down her face and dripping off her chin. Her expression is silent rage at the repeated injustices inflicted upon her due to being "motherless". She has her fist clenched, blood and squashed berries dripping off and onto the ground, where her blood causes fresh grass to grow. In fact, the green grass has grown on her trail, a green footprint not far behind her, expressing her role in giving new life to Earth. Rost stands behind her, sad and sullen at Aloy's state. He reaches out to her, but his hand is hesitant to actually touch her. In his other hand, he holds the necklace that originally belonged to his own daughter. A tree behind both of them is showing all stages leaves go through the year, with the withered, fiery orange stages of autumn around Rost. White branches emerge from his back, vaguely resembling an open ribcage. There's blood on the branches. The background is the mountain range with a newly risen sun, the very same that Rost spoke Aloy's name to.

I find a lot of comfort in RPGs at the moment. Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default, they're bringing Final Fantasy Tactics to modern consoles...

Erend looks down to a bleeding cut on his upper arm, the sleeve rolled up and glove removed, letting out a disapproving hiss. In the next panel, he's looking to the side with a smile, asking, "At least women like scars, right?" to an offscreen Aloy as the cut bleeds heavier, blood dripping off his arm. There's a hint of an Oseram tattoo visible where his sleeve is rolled up. Aloy, visibly annoyed yet blushing profusely at the bared arm of Erend, unrolls a clean bandage and pulls it taut with an audible snap like a whip. She replies: "Erend. You're bleeding. A LOT." She can't decide whether to be mad, flustered or concerned. So she's all of the above.
