Eppur si muove. Venice freak, sff reader/writer, owned by a sort-of Korat cat
Last place I lived in, I could give away stuff to like 400 kiddos in an evening. The only way to survive was supergiant mixed bags of minis!

And better than everything is Payday, but it’s not mini-sized, so probably is not relevant to a Halloween-flavored discussion.

My first thought was upside down ceiling fan, home brew division.

Depends on if it was canceled the night before. If today, it can be downright miffing.

Yes, measured response is better. Alas. Sometimes I enjoy a frank exchange of views, though.

I’d be tempted to to shoot back “Free is the problem”

It’s one of any number of paintings that make you feel as though you were occupying the space inside the painting. I couldn’t say if it was of the period or a later effort—search is not helping. An article on these spaces collided with a book on civic ritual and produced a germ for my dissertation

Last cat, first time she went to the vet, sat quietly on the exam table, and then when she moved, this great haze of long fur floated about. I’d never seen that before.

I still make crepes occasionally; still got my old Taylor & Ng pan.

My college German dictionary, a handmedown from my dad from our time in Germany, was in Fraktur. I don’t think it helped, and I made sure to get a new Roman font one for my grad class in reading. It’s just possible the old one gave me a very tiny edge in art history manuscripts class

Like, maybe, world domination?

In our case, last two moves, it was down to the packers. And you ca@nt really fault them for putting the machine at the bottom, because you put the large stuff in first. But yes, I blame myself for not sequestering that stuff beforehand as essential wanted on voyage.

And somebody, may they fry in hell, will have packed the coffee machine entirely separate from the coffee and filters, and they’ll all be down in the very bottoms of boxes that have totally different stuff on top.

Strongly recommend noise reducing headphones. and some kind of muffled space for the pets.

My panic, right in the middle of Slow Horses, was whether I had to renew my drivers license this year or next. Next, fortunately, because otherwise it would now be expired. (I’ve missed enough deadlines for stuff this summer that I really don’t need to do any more.)

Or as my Renaissance art history professor was fond of saying, “Booty! Booty!”

I’ve done it twice as a day trip from Venice, but you have to take a ridiculously early train.

I think you may be over-scheduled, here.

I’m not saying it was worse, but uncountable decades ago we had casual dining chairs that were slats going the other way, and the space between the slats got wider the further you got toward the front. Couldn’t sit in them in shorts because you’d get these huge welts on your legs and butt.
September 17, 2024 at 3:30 AM
That actually sounds fairly miraculous. Must be thin layer with short baking time?

What is an emergency cake?

I think about the tiny cuttlefish, also from that lagoon …

Now there’s a horror story.
