Two big wins for Labour to celebrate today as they’ve turned deep blue Mid Bedfordshire and Tamworth red. By-elections are not like general elections but this will still cause the Conservatives a big headache - Tamworth had a 42% majority in 2019 - no government has previously lost such a safe seat.

By-election result out in Scotland this morning. This will give Labour a huge mood boost for the upcoming party conference.
Rutherglen and Hamilton West (UK Parliament) By-Election (vs 2019):
Lab: 17845 (58.6%, +24.1)
SNP: 8399 (27.6%, -16.6)
Con: 1192 (3.9%, -11.1)
LD: 895 (2.9%, -2.3)
Grn: 601 (2%, new)
RUK: 403 (1.3%, new)
Family: 319 (1%, new)
Others (<1%): 823 (2.7%, new)

Labour elected.

Came back from the Conservative Party Conference. Here is what I‘m taking away:
1. The election campaign has started. Never before did so many MPs want to be interviewed by German TV. It’s all about air time. And I wonder how many photos of us interviewing them will pop up on various MP-websites.
