Archaeology, mesoamerica, GIS and really bad jokes. I like studying humans: ancient and modern alike. ♾️

Currently advocating for refugees and asylum seekers in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

It's only now that I have finally graduated from my master's degree and actually have my diploma in hand that I am actually brave enough to read the feedback I received on my dissertation (even though I scored a high mark in it)

Pretty lucky to have Saltwell Park a 2-minute walk from our doorstep

I'm not going to pay for Letterboxd (because I am #broke) so I don't have access to better stats, but pretty pleased to have watched 135 movies in 2024 (that I remembered to log). Posting this here purely so I can see if I beat this in 2025!

Kicking off 2025 in style: our annual new year's morning hike took us to a local hill in the very blustery sunshine to views down to the North Sea and the countryside, and in the evening we watched SAFC @safc.com beat Sheffield Utd 2-1 in a really thrilling game during bouts of snow flurries ❄️

Today on the drive up to Newcastle from Reading (trip no. 2/4) we passed a lorry carrying flour, then one carrying sugar ... then one (and first I've seen) transporting eggs! Big cake being made somewhere

The overwhelming urge to immediately send off a job application after having finished writing it at 1am, when I inherently know it is better to sleep on it and give it a second look in the morning

I am a perpetually conflicted scholar. I teeter between my love of archaeology and prehistoric civilisations (my BA) and my interest in #migration and #refugee issues (my MA). The glue that holds them together is my third interest in Geographic Information Systems! Jack of all trades, master of none

Postponing New Years celebrations by a week to not be constrained by traditional Gregorian calendar events and dates*

(*Because I actually have two term papers to finish off and have no brain capacity to do anything else until then)
