Don’t let your fur baby suffer unnecessarily - vaccinate! FeLV has so many systemic consequences and some studies suggest median survival of 2.5 years after diagnosis. I can only hope Aya doesn’t have FeLV or has latent disease 🙁
Just look at that face! 💜😻

FeLV is a retrovirus, which means it incorporates itself into the genome.

Vaccination is now a core vaccination recommended for kittens. It is not 100% effective, but why not be better protected? Aya was a rescue and was never offered!

FeLV affects around 2-3% of cats in the US. It is the most common cause of cancers in cats, may lead to immune deficiency, and various other disorders. Aya has hyperesthesia and weekly vomiting - two symptoms which could be signs of FeLV, but were always regarded as normal by her vets.

Recently had an eye opening encounter with a patient with Ehlers-Danlos who almost died from wound complications of an aortic dissection.

Yes, Ehlers-Danlos does impact wound healing also.

Love this - if only we could put more stories to conditions like this so they stick, but hard when presentations are rare or under-diagnosis is rampant.
