I’m spending a few days in Bournemouth. It’s okay, but a lot more hilly than I remember. I do feel sad that my mobility issues mean I can’t easily walk down the beach, because sand & walking sticks aren’t great together. I love swimming, but can’t risk getting in & out of the water on my own.

My neighbour totally surprised me when I was in the garden, trying to ignore what an unruly mess it is. She and her partner hoisted a lawnmower over the fence and then cut the grass and weeds. They tidied up everything and chatted away in Russian (?) while I stood there gobsmacked!

I feel like there is a misconception that survivors don’t know how strong they are. Most of us know. Most of us also know that if we had more support and resources, we wouldn’t have to be so strong and resilient.

I was straight for 22 years, bisexual for 32 years, then asexual since 2024. Racism, fatphobia, ableism and bigotry has been a constant thing for my entire life. Queer and Trans spaces are just as bad as straight spaces.
