In Paris again this week & the moon is a stunner.

Gorgeous autumn flowers including bright pink dahlias in a garden next to Place des Vosges. Round gothic stone that looks like a window, set on a stone base in a garden with greenery behind it. Adorable & massive tabby & white cat hanging out in a small Marais garden looking intrigued by my bag, which TBF had GF pastry inside. Stunning windows and ceilings with paintings and gilt, looking out over a courtyard in the National archives museum.

In Paris this week.
Looking through trees to the bookshop ‘Shakespeare & Company’. Lots of people out and about the awning is a bright mustard yellow. Photo of Notre-Dame at twilight from across the road. Bright bunches of flowers on a stand at a neighbourhood market in the 5th arrondisement. A small restaurant with a white wood front and canvas awning, called Regis Huiterie that serves oysters. Café tables out front.

Italian trains are quite civilised - they’ve even given us gluten-free freshly made bread.
On the way to Paris via Milan from Tuscany.
A fast Frecciarossa train in Milan station. A bread basket with gluten free bread and a plate with cheese and charcuteries. A glass of red wine. Cloth napkin on my knee.

Have been in the Tuscan countryside near Montalcino with both daughters since Saturday. Skye is returning home from NYC to live in London again, so took advantage of gardening leave to join us. Lovely to spend time together & some very nice wine has been had.
View over the valley to the Banfi vineyard. Church in Montalcino Pienza’s central square Very pretty stone building with flowering plants on a little balcony and café tables in front.

Last day in Venice; on the train to Florence this afternoon. Walked around Santa Croce & the Rialto market this morning & lunch at Zucca to finish our time here.

Burano today for the best risotto and *extremely* local wine from isola Mazzorbo a few hundred metres way, followed by the lace museum.
Burano style risotto made with local fish stock. Bottle of Orto wine from an Isola Mazzorbo vineyard. Tastes of the sea. Handmade 17gh century Intricate and very fine, delicate lace over laid with flowering by vines. A photo of a square on Burano with terracotta pots with flowering plants around a running fountain. Arrived in Venice yesterday morning & have wandering around with @brynnemontgomery.bsky.social
Grand canal of Venice, lined with pastel coloured palazzi with a gorgeous retro wooden speedboat water taxi zooming past. A wooden wee building with deep and lighter green accented with gilt. Cool courtyard gate. With a table and large leafed plants and stone statuary. Narrow Venice canal just after twilight, stone buildings textured with colour.
