I’m missing some context here. Why do people say the bitter lesson is over? Aren’t all the state-of-the-art models today still gigantic can cost millions of dollars of compute resources to train?

Yes prions are the cause of mad cow disease. Reading about mirror life bacteria reminds me of prions because of how terrifyingly dangerous they are. Prion diseases are a type of infection so foreign to any life form that there’s just no immune protection whatsoever against it.

Interesting share, I haven’t heard of mirror life before. My first impression is that mirror bacteria seem really scary, which immediately reminds me of prions.
