Especially after my dad opened a division of Apple there (cuz he would only go to Apple if he didn’t need to move to NorCal circa 1980, I was in high school) and my parents got rich. Suddenly “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” was a bad. I’ve carried that burden for decades.

Interracial marriages (illegal up until very modern history, 1967) DO NOT acct for the millions of descendants of chattel enslavement having Irish surnames. Enslavement is the reason. So, likely, indentured Irish nationals earned their way to the whiteness umbrella by enslaving Black people.
