True to form, I actually went and found the genuine automotive paint that BR used for its fleet in the 80s and got a touch-up can of that mix.
Too much paint applied too quickly though, so this has proven to be a failure. Airbrush required!

So after an extended period of no motivation and hobby ADHD, I actually did some more on my model railway!
Two different jobs today, one was cutting the underlay which had been on the list for basically the whole year up to now, the other was an experiment!

Expensive hobby ADHD may have kicked in and...
It's been radio time for the past month or so, I'll get back to the railways, honest!
In the meantime, enjoy this photo of my new mobile radio, an Anytone AT-778UV with a remote head kit from a lovely Aussie!

The next step completed!
The boards are painted, and aside from a few touch ups that will inevitably be needed, the next step is laying the underlay for the track!
The paint, of anyone may be wondering, was some basic matte black spray paint from B&M.

These set the space I have, 300mm deep throughout, featuring an 1800mm scenic section flanked by two 900mm fiddle yards, with the three sections splitting for transport.
These were commissioned from White Rose Modelworks, and I'm thoroughly impressed!

Thanks so much!
This would be really cool as a tag for a modular model railway I'm working on with a couple of friends!
I've attached a couple of reference images for the colours
