Once I followed a few dozen people, this really helped me not be so overwhelmed with news on Bluesky:

Settings>Content and media>Following feed preferences

Turn off “Show reposts”

I went ahead and also turned off “Show replies”

Now I just see original posts, which fits my level of engagement.
