Nov 8, 1950 80 B-29s today dropped 650 tons of bombs on to the Korean ends of the two main bridges which link Manchuria. In an air battle over North Korea, an American jet fighter shot down a Russian built jet and damaged another. This is the first jet fighter ever shot down in an aerial dogfight.

Nov 7, 1950 Truman goes home to cast vote. The President said that the US in 1920 "ran out" on its responsibility for the preservation of world peace. He apparently was referring to the abandonment of the League of Nations by the US. "We can't do that this time," he said, "and we are not going to."

Nov 6, 1950 MacArthur announced today that the Communists Chinese had moved a fresh army from Manchuria into North Korea. Diplomats at UN Headquarters agree that China's intervention has created an explosive situation which could easily lead to a new world war.

Nov 4, 1950 The Royal couple will visit Greece informally in December for a week as the guests of the King and Queen of Hellenes. It will be the Princess' first visit to her husband's native country. He was born on the island of Corfu. Prince Charles and Princess Anne will stay in London.

Nov 3, 1950 Two Puerto Ricans yesterday tried to shoot their way into Blair House to assassinate President Truman. In a brief gun battle one of the Puerto Ricans and one of the President's guards were killed. The other Puerto Rican and two other guards were wounded.

Nov 3, 1950 Communist China is giving every indication of preparing for full-scale intervention in Korea. Thousands of Chinese troops already are fighting the UN forces in Korea, more are crossing from Manchuria daily. Chinese leaders have not yet told the people that troops are in action in Korea.

Oct 28, 1950 Observers in Paris expect Laokay, important frontier fortress in northern Indo-China to fall to the Vietmin rebels within a few days. Many of the townspeople have fled to the hills, fearing that the rebels will massacre them because they supported the French.
