To the poet: In form this is a sonnet, but forced rhyming arrangements pull uncomfortably at its structure. Although the poem is weak on technical perfection, there are times when an imperfect structure can assist in the successful construction of a fractured theme.

To the reader: A teenager's experimentation with style is a passionate pursuit; an obsession giving polish to personal branding. The familiar face pulled into a curious form is interesting to read for its deeper emotional meaning... who is she when not herself?

To the poet: The rhythmic structure of this sonnet is erratic. Nonetheless, it does move along in three blocks of four-lined stanzas. Each block of thought reads like a statement. But, true to the theme of the poem, the final couplet laments the uncaptured essence of this illusive form.

To the reader: There are so many aspects to life that just can't be forced into submission. We gain nothing from bullying a butterfly. It's through patience, not cajoling, that pleasures are expressed ... good things come to those who wait.
