I was mindblown by the previews, I was like, that's impossible, especially when I saw the in-game screenshots shown in magazines leading up to the release in late 2001. I've never saw such a leap in graphics ever since, you had to be there and have played GTA 2 only a couple of years earlier.

VGs availability, digitalization, and sales cheapened them. Published titles have been increasing YoY since the mid 80s. People have 1000s of digital unplayed libraries that can be DLed in mins but they will never play. Same goes for books, music & movies. No wonder they don't carry the same weight.
