I think having this sewing pattern printed for me was a mistake. The file is great bc it has layers so you can just turn off the other sizes you don’t need. The shop didn’t do that. It is sometimes hard to try where to put notch marks and some cut lines.

There was energy for zataar grilled cheese. There always is. I was a fool to have doubted.

Examples of a kind of coat typical of fashions in the Galilee region of Palestine including the now rare art of silk patchwork.

Okay I fixed it… it looks very off but that might be because I used smaller needles. Hopefully it will even out? The darker one ids the before, lighter one is after my first attempt at reknitting a section down a few rows…

I think… I’m fixing it? First time trying to tear down in a column and reknit.

Knitting friends, I need some advice. I am not sure what happened here on these Ragland sleeves. The one with the rings and blue marker is the start of round, the yellow one is what it should look like. I estimated how many stitches I should have. I’ll 2 short. Can this be fixed?

Anyway, I was delighted to find that there’s a book of history and stories, and that I have on the bookshelf beside my bed!

Enjoy some non tatreez embroidery projects. One is my sternly to make a Palestinian headdress with tahriri embroidery and the other is a kit that got me back into free style.

It did! Behold my awkward and wobbly first attempt at making pieces for patchwork!

Just doing some light reading today.

This pattern (Flax from Tin Can Knits) is a really good beginner project. It’s very simple but there’s also some interest in the garter stitch raglan sleeves.

Must be more yellow than I thought. It really does things to the colours of this yarn. But I managed to switch over to the larger needles without twisting it up. Yay for progress? The stitch count is off slightly though. Not sure how worried I should be by two extra stitches.

I frogged the collar and I’m almost finished knitting it up again (hopefully without getting it twisted when I switch over to the longer cables.

Le beginning of a sweater! These circulars are much nicer to use than the ones my dog munched. The chilis are very off but you get the idea.

Last week I lamented not having the funds to make winter clothes. @ruthieknox.bsky.social sent me a care package of wool and a set of circular needles. I’ll keep these safe from the jaws of my dog. (I did give her a little treat as well).

The purpose of this gliding method is to save thread and to have very clean backs to the embroidery. You end up with little dashes like this:

Someone asked how I could do tatreez backwards. I tried to explain how you do it forward. Today I took some pictures to illustrate. This is my practice swatch. I made a shape based on the Walls of Jerusalem motif. You can see how the needle stays on the front of the fabric, pointed away.

That's all I have energy for today, but there's SO much more! I will leave you with some pic spam of my family's village:
