Her advice was simple but powerful: if you’re a great reporter and a good storyteller, everything else in this career becomes possible. I really liked that she mentioned how important it is to be a good storyteller, because that’s something important to learn in this program.

This means going out and doing the work, asking good questions and forming relationships. She admitted it takes patience, but athletes and coaches will respect you if they see you doing that work.

Which she said many athletes today actually prefer. I definitely think this a major advantage to journalism as if you have a follow up question you can send a quick text. Instead of having to set up a followup interview. #JMC602

They used to be able to walk up to players as they walked to their cars and now those areas are restricted. On the other hand, she did also touch on some positive changes that have connected athletes and journalists. She said writers today have the advantage of being able to text a player.

He always answered every question, even when they asked about gambling, politics, or world issues far beyond basketball. He didn’t always have the right answers, but he tried and was always respectful and was extremely patient. She said that this respect of his was due to the way he was raised.

Michele Kang has promised to take an active role in fighting this relegation. There are not many women who sit in the highest positions of European soccer. This is a huge step forward for women in sports.

Hopefully, this broadcast gets more people interested and involved in the game to further the development of women’s tackle football. That will allow these athletes to soon earn salaries for playing the sport. As of now, only the winners will be paid thanks to new sponsors. #JMC602

This is a massive step forward for the women’s leagues, which have grown both domestically and internationally. The leagues have been around for 16 seasons with 17 teams total, and it still has not received the attention it deserves.

This is going to be an exciting opportunity for many athletes who wish to continue their professional career after college. The league is set to start next month with a small tournament but it will kick off its city based teams in 2026. Is this a league you will be following?
