My son is reading this for gr11 FI class. It was written before his grandparents were born (1953) and I’ve never heard of it so I doubt it would be called a « classic ». Why??? We can do so much better! #onted

I like the message in this book chosen by the Ont Lib Assoc for the Forest of Reading. I think it is best suited to middle school bc many of the characters are queer, and some are in the foster care system and have fathers in jail. (It’s a bit forced tbh). I appreciated the glossary. #onted

Just finished ⁦‪#WabKinew‬⁩ YA novel and loved it! I read it to my gr5s (omitting a few hints about self-harm). It’s great to study him as an author as well as Canadian politician for an integrated Social Studies unit! (I also read his “Go Show The World” picture book to younger students.
