A new song every day. Primarily obscure pop/rock songs from the 1970s-1990s.
I was thrilled to see it get some attention a few years back, when it was included in the soundtrack for "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2"

Warner loved it, but Valli decided to replace Don's vocals with his own when he returned. Fast forward to this recording from 2001: Don was in the studio recording some of his own music when the producer suggested he do an acoustic cover version and here it is. I'd love to hear the 70s original

Listening to it, I'm surprised how close Turner's version is to the original, down to the sighs & moans. The song was written by band member Holly Knight (who went on to be a wildly successful songwriter) and future Late Show drummer Anton Fig.

Knight also wrote another Turner hit, "The Best"

"Ghost On The Beach" is the closest thing the band had to a hit. It didn't hit the Top 40, but did well on Modern Rock stations and the video was played a lot on MTV.

The song was a #1 hit. But it didn't make Lieberman any money, since the duo stripped her name out of the credits.

and the 41-year-old married Gimbel began an affair with Lieberman. One night, she went to a Don McLean concert & later wrote out some lyrics based on her moving experience. Gimbel & Fox helped her with the song, which she then recorded as a folk song. The duo then took the song to Roberta Flack.

He also won a 1980 Oscar for co-writing the theme for the movie "Norma Rae."

But apparently, Gimbel could be a bit of an ass. In 1971, he & Fox signed 19-year-old singer-songwriter Lori Lieberman to a management contract. The team took twice the percentage that was typical for such deals (20%)

Other hits of his include Peggy March's "I Will Follow Him," Jim Croce's "I Got A Name," & "The Theme from "Laverne & Shirley". In fact, he & longtime writing partner Charlie Fox wrote a ton of other TV themes: "The Paper Chase," "Angie," "H.R. Pufnstuf." youtu.be/X9Qy9EXaOo0?...

Daryl Worley released a string of really stellar songs. Including this one, which is both a tender love song and maybe a companion piece to the song above? youtu.be/8zNf4sOO_mg?...

Her voice cracks a bit from nerves during the first line. But she settles down and by the end of the song has the crowd of 90,000 listening intently. To say nothing to the estimated worldwide audience of 600 million. It's just a stunning, self-assured performance.
