yes you're right. it's a bad example. just thought dan may be more familiar of english.
modern english is evolving towards analytical, quite mixed cuz of world-wide use i guess. old english should be a better example with other romance languages.

english is a "fusional language", while japanese is an "agglutinative language". additionally, chinese is a "analytic language" or "isolating" which has even more chaotic words order.
