And it is _definitely_ not a good idea replace this vintage 70’s relay with a $15 solid-state single-pole normally open relay because apparently those catch fire and get stuck in the closed position. So now I’m looking up modern $80 relays with heat syncs.

In other “fun” news, the radiant heat in my unit stopped being reliable the day my duplexmates/landlords who built the system went out of town for 2.5 weeks. I’m learning so much about relays, overflow preventers, and more! Rebooting the relay daily seems to help.

Made this quilt for a friend after they came out as non-binary to their Chinese family, and received a new Chinese name (“Bright Flow”).

The center is laser-cut reverse appliqué made of fabric from their baby blanket, with trapunto underneath.
