I just talked to one of my players about learning that same lesson, so next time I run DS for new players I will make sure of two things.
1. Tutorial style pregens, where they pick Class and Ancestry and I do the rest.
2. Give them the chance to throw a Goblin through a wall and a floor.

I have to disagree on this, as a player when I place myself in flanking of two enemies, and the GM doesn't attack me when we are fighting creatures with a certain tactical capability, unless there is a larger threat I feel like they're pulling their punches
