Stopped by the library to find the book that @dingdingpeng.the100.ci posted about even though classes start in a few days and I don’t really have time to read it. And then I saw this other book that looked really interesting (and which I also don’t have time to read). Left with 5 books in total.

When you turn to Duolingo for a quick distraction and it chooses violence...

Reminds me of the episode of "Numb3rs" (mid-2000s show with a mathematician consulting for the FBI) where the hero solves some unfolding crisis with... dun dun dun... a LOGIT.

With so many new #BlueSky users, we want to reconnect with readers and share with a fresh audience a book published a few years ago by @sonagolder.bsky.social , @ignaciolago.bsky.social, André Blais, Elisabeth Gidengil, & Thomas Gschwend (1/n)

If you have a shorter semester/term or want to incorporate additional material, not to worry! The new (2nd) edition of the Foundations of Comparative Politics could be the solution... 3/3

Looking for the lecture slides for the new (4th) edition of Principles of Comparative Politics (2024) that Matt and I used this past semester? See here: mattgolder.com/books/pocp/s... (2/3)

Just finished teaching Intro to Comparative Politics with the new (4th) edition! The revisions/updates were a long time coming (especially figuring out how to synthesize everything) but I really enjoyed sharing all the new material with students. So much good CP work out there! 1/3

After watching A Taxi Driver, if you have Netflix and want to watch a drama about military service, I'd recommend D.P. (Both seasons.)

Nice Midwestern take... I think I prefer the edible homage that I came across last summer, though.

For the past several years I have enjoyed showing a clip from the final episode of "The Running Mate" to illustrate how counting ballots in an Irish STV election works but discovered this morning that it's no longer available for streaming "in my region". Boo.

I've been enjoying teaching some recent Acemoglu & Robinson material (The Narrow Corridor, Power-Culture trajectories, etc.) in our new edition of Principles of Comparative Politics and now I'm really looking forward to class today...

I was surprised that the 2024 APSA Annual Meeting Evaluation Survey contains a question about first gen academics in which they continue to include int'l scholars who are NOT first gen but who are the first to study or teach in the US. Thought they were going to revise this definition?

Fantastic to be back in Bergen to see colleagues from @sampol.bsky.social and enjoy a productive NoPSA annual congress. Beautiful weather, great social events, excellent political science… Thanks to the participants of the Conflict in Parliamentary Parties workshop!

This RFI photo caption claims that traditional costumes have been brought out of the wardrobe for voting, but disappointingly only gives us this one example in its tour of various polling places.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last tv show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who is coming to save you?

(Luckily, even though I took a short break from my French detective shows, I still chose wisely...)
