There is a group in Israel wishing to restore the Temple. Perhaps there is a different group of nutters outside Israel wishing to redo the Crusades?

The relevance of the pic escapes my neuro-divergent mind, but over-whelmingly, poverty begets more poverty. Our task is to help break the cycle.

Maybe it's a test of what people think about Christmas in these times 😉

I cannot get my head around -45 degrees. I assume you mean F, but that still ~ -42C. Here it's 5C bottom of winter, up to 40C in summer, so only ice is in the fridge. <grin>

I don't really know. The argument is that superannuation is here being used as a tax minimisation strategy, with amounts far exceeding what's required for retirement income. So, to make it less attractive? Rebalance perks for boomers and needs of younger people?

Similar to RRSP, but much more generous, other than the requirement for a compulsory component of wages (plus compulsory employer contribution)

Not really (though that is moot now). These are self managed superannuation funds with many millions of dollars in long term assets. Given that superannuation is taxed lowly for retirement, applying to these accounts seems unfair. Worker don't typically have those sums.

BTW, the Australian government just walked back a suggestion to tax unrealised capital gains in assets that part of superannuation funds.

Interesting idea. Taxing capital gains when the assets are used as collateral would, very quickly, stop the use of loans to pay for shares, with underlying assets as collateral, ie leveraged buying. Much of the excess heat in the market is from leveraged buying.

Interesting. Was unaware of the other derivations beyond winter. The same root also gives you חריף spicy.

Or you can say: if Albo's tee-shirt is all they can find to fuss about, the PM is going just fine.

Which, for a language rich in euphemisms, is unusually direct as a description of what Common Law is about: adherence to law.

Which is why "lawyer" more accurately reflects what they do, than "arranger of justice", the latter on a good day.
