This was the main problem. Water got into the battery control board. Fortunately the battery did not overheat. Wow that could have hurt. Both batteries did puff up.

I should redo this and shine the hood to match the natural PVC shine.

This is what a Cellblock2 cage looks like once the cover is removed. The solenoid plunger extends into the lever arm to lock it. There is a soft rubber plug that can be pierced to push the plunger back if the electronics stop working. On mine the plastic was not strong enough and cracked.
