Gamer. Dog guy. Slayer of nonsense. Anime enthusiast. Haver of optimism. Everything's actually going to be alright in the end.
They are largely just bored cretins, yes.

This gets outside the purview of politics and so I don't expect the President to comment on it, but it's a question of meaning and purpose.

And these fools haven't the slightest insight about it. Not at all.

I don't understand how anyone can look at OpenAI just bullshitting on paying anything back and yet SoftBank is tripping over themselves to throw billions at them.

FOMO mindset is really something else, man.

Catchy bumper sticker you got there.

And having a particularly punchable face. I mean that. Ol' Sammy must've had it rough on the playground.

Plato is in shambles.

ADELBERT STEINER! 🫡

The answer to this is not to give them a fight. If one has the proverbial bullet (which is not to infer or endorse violence of any kind) ready and loaded, then you don't play a weakling political game.

You just end them.
December 20, 2025 at 6:01 PM
That said, I'm not going to entertain your face-saving nonsense and handwaves anymore than I already have.

On a practical level, you aren't up to this level of discussion where I have to explain such things to you.

Have a pleasant day.

For a Materialist it would be physicality itself and for an Idealist it would be mind.

Therefore your assertion that falsifiability is the key factor here is, again, a misunderstanding of how science operates at the most basic level.
December 20, 2025 at 5:28 PM
I dare say you didn't actually read my comment. If you did then you would've understood that the one thing that is *not* falsifiable is that which you must grant as the primary which undergrads everything else in your theory of the world.
December 20, 2025 at 5:27 PM
And for the Idealist, Mind is the best explanation bar none because you literally cannot escape it no matter how you might try.

It is sufficient to explain absolutely everything, including ourselves.

Physicalism, by contrast, can't even tell you what a physical thing even is!
December 20, 2025 at 3:11 PM
That's like asking a Physicalist to prove how matter exists and could be shown to be false.

No matter what you ultimately subscrbe to, there is *always* something you have to take as the underlying foundation that is Reality itself.

The question is what best accounts for everything that we know.
December 20, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Respectfully, you just seem to be throwing "unscientific" around as a buzzword to try and shake me when, in fact, it's you that doesn't understand how science works.
December 20, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Actually I would submit that my logic is profoundly scientific.

Science has *never* proceeded on verifying something prior to crafting a theory that made sense of the circumstances. No one has ever seen or measured dark matter or dark energy and yet most scientists believe them to exist!
December 20, 2025 at 2:23 PM
OpenAI doesn't make money. Oracle doesn't make money. Anthropic doesn't make money.

These companies live and breathe on the gullibility of venture capital that *will* run out sooner rather than later and NVIDIA's endless appetite for selling more and more GPUs that they can't even use!
December 20, 2025 at 4:21 AM
In fairness, I'm not saying AI doesn't have any uses. It does! There are applications for medicine and some other stuff that's legitimately cool.

End of the day though, numbers are numbers. AI keeps slapped on everything because it's not profitable. It burns through money worse than the Joker.
December 20, 2025 at 4:18 AM
The bottom hasn't fallen out for Trump, but it's closer than he should like.

He's not going to like what happens if it does.
December 20, 2025 at 1:38 AM
There are surely a few voices left inside that knew how this would play out.
December 20, 2025 at 1:32 AM
As a supplement to human activity. Which is fine - but practically speaking that's nothing novel or fubdamentally different from what we've done for decades.
December 20, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I don't know that Pope Francis (God rest his soul) would've done it like that.
December 20, 2025 at 12:11 AM
"In some sense," Sir.

Perhaps he'll try to designate the ballroom as a national landmark?
December 19, 2025 at 10:40 PM
The old man ran it out to the end, even when he lost.
December 19, 2025 at 10:31 PM
I don't mean to come across as snide, but I'm tired of hearing what AI *could* do. I want to hear what it's doing that makes it worth keeping around.

Steve Jobs didn't need to go around telling people what Apple would be in 5 or 10 years. He just said what awesome thing it was doing now.
December 19, 2025 at 10:15 PM
That's the thing though. You can make an easy argument for why the tech behind the dot.com bubble was solid.

I don't know what tech people are talking about with AI. What's the actual thing here that's going to be useful? And for what?
December 19, 2025 at 10:05 PM
Mind is what fundamentally exists and so all contents of minds (thoughts, feelings, experiences, etc, etc) don't need an explanation because they're the foundation of reality itself.

The one brute fact that even a rock-ribbed atheistic Materialist must grant in order to argue for anything at all.
