I do understand what you’re saying. It’s a noble and worthy idea. The situation really bothers me, though. I’m pissed off that they use our (noble) willingness to accept personal responsibility against us. They leverage it to demoralize and distract us. We’ve gotta stop letting them do it.

If you could leave the machine (as you call it) you would, but you’re trapped in a system you didn’t design, and the blame must be placed squarely on those who intentionally keep it that way.

The philosophy of encouraging well-meaning individuals to blame themselves was engineered by the fossil fuel industry. It has been embraced by the environmental movement for half a century and look where we are.
