as ever, fascinated by the juxtaposition in one piece between the characters whose goal is explicitly to upend the world order, and those whose goal is just to be free, but they keep running afoul of the world order as a result

also, young Shanks is HOT. that’s all

I love learning about all these Important Figures that have been in the background of the story but never fully explored until now, and I looooove learning the real history that has been hiding in plain sight

I remember the first time through the anime, I spent hundreds of episodes being like “one piece is really good but everyone is so young…” and then Jinbe was presented to me like a beautiful gift

the ultimate dad of all time…when he just holds Luffy up like a squirming kitten. That’s the good stuff
