On a little cruise from Melbourne to Adelaide and back. I’ve been looking forward to a nice relaxing week for quite a long time. oh wait, I brought a 3 year old along.. first day in and I’m already exhausted!

Not off to a great start today.. we pushed back and now they’ve got a warning light in the cockpit and we need to return to the gate to get an engineer to look at it.

Oooh, this is interesting. The APU on this aircraft is inoperative, so the captain was just explaining the alternative start up procedure to us.

Off to the airport far far too early in the morning. I can still see the occasional possum climbing the power poles. Stay safe little guys. It’s dangerous up there.

Been posting more on Mastodon, but an update, my visa is in process for Australia. Headed to Melbourne once it’s approved and I sell my house. Staying with my employer. I’m in in for the long haul to become Australian. Look forward to meeting some of you - I’ll bring my D&D books and a good attitude

After 4 years of being behind a desk I’m back out running around racking things, plugging in the fibres to make little lights blink.
It’s been a lot of fun. My body so isn’t used to it though.. I ache everywhere.

My wife went for a swim yesterday, a few laps during her lunch break. Got creeped on by a guy who kept asking her to get a coffee and if she was going to have a steam, he also said he comes to the pool everyday and asked if he would see her again. Now she doesn’t want to go swimming anymore. WTAF…

I recently transitioned from working in private healthcare to the OT/PropTech sector. It’s been really interesting to see the difference in appetite for network segmentation and security in the new space.

I’ve been looking at moving my home lab from VMware over to proxmox which lead me down a path that ended up with me installing some O/S vehicle tracking software, buying a gps module for a raspberry pi and writing a little python script to feed that data to the server. Forgot I was carless that day.

A great week on the Gold Coast for #ausnog23 and a little holiday is coming to an end. Saw some dolphins, saw some super friendly whales, ate at far too many restaurants and overall had a fantastic time!
