Also, Rocky isnt listening to Eye of the Tiger, we are. Movies having a soundtrack is almost always a suspension of disbelief.

I would bet you've heard Gonna Fly Now in your head while running up steps, maybe even hummed it. Musicals are just that taken to an extreme.

Imagine those scenes without music. You wouldnt feel as connected or hyped up.

Now you might say that listening to music while working out is a real world normal thing but thats the point. It's normal to music to set our moods.

It's ironic you brought up Rocky The Musical because Rocky is how I would try to explain musicals to you.

Rocky training montages are similar to musical numbers. They both highlight character emotions and advance the story through the expression of music and physical choreography.

Bakalar's refusal to give up his spot on the rotating chair has taken new levels

I think you'd like The Brothers Sun! It leans more action/drama than comedy, but there's still humor. It was unfortunately cancelled, though : (

I finished Deli Boys yesterday! So good

It reminds me of The Brothers Sun but more comedy.

Also, Xosha Roquemore played a secret service agent who easily could have done the few things the plot "needed" Sabra for

She appears throughout the whole movie but is so insignificant and ineffectual they could/should have cut her entirely. Imho the half-baked middle road appeasement attempt they made is probably worse than if they just kept what they planned originally.

Perfect show. Perfect ending.

Smaller chains and independent theatres but when we complain about certain movies not coming to theatre's I'm sure they'd LOVE the extra profit but big chains are soulless companies too and see them as the enemy 🤷‍♂️

Interesting thing about box office and Knives Out is Netflix actually did give Glass Onion a limited wide release and was open to maybe doing more but theatre chains hard balled them into taking a lower cut of ticket sales plus spending more on promotion. I still think Netflix could do more for
January 31, 2025 at 5:48 PM
I think so, at least in these big cases. For as controlling and data driven as Netflix can be with their more generic and broad stuff I think they're still in a phase where they see value in just having big name creatives on their platform to drive people in and care less about their output.

There's also kanopy! Haven't tried it myself cause my local library isn't on it, but I've heard it's great

Made it through! In the Mood For Love was exceptional but boy does 2046 put you in an eating ice cream in your pajamas at midnight type mood

It was Companion! Good-ish movie with a great cast. Nice choice for a mystery screening too as it doesn't tip it's hand to the premise immediately for people who don't know it but has plenty of hints for those that do.
