They say the hardest part of chess is winning the won game, but I've found it's a lot easier to play when you're not down on material. Provided you know how to evaluate your opponent's threats, of course.

(Also trying out yet another redesign of my sona)

[01/31 "years gone by"]

I almost forgot that was a thing we did. It looks so stupid, but we were having fun, and that's what really matters.

A brief summary of several of my problems
A crude drawing of two platforms, the left one higher than the right one, separated by a wall. A ball sits on the left platform. It wants to move downward to the right platform, to reach a lower-energy state — a more desirable configuration, according to any physics class you've ever taken. I think. Unfortunately, though, the ball must pass through the wall if it wants to reach the lower platform and release its gravitational potential energy. Perhaps the ball can do it if it invests enough energy to get over the wall; this is rather difficult, though, despite the fact that the ball only needs to press one button. It's always a button. Why is pressing a button so hard. It takes very little physical effort to press a button, but it apparently takes a great deal of mental effort for some reason. And this keeps happening, and it never feels like it's supposed to be that hard, but it always is for some reason or another.

Just bounced the first track on my upcoming EP. The mixing/mastering probably sucks, but better to make bad art than to not make art at all. Three to go :)

Been trying to teach myself how to draw by making a little one-off comic. Figured I'd see if anyone has any sort of feedback/critiques to offer, so here's the first three panels. Both characters represent me, by the way

Thought I'd share a fun math doodle I did in class yesterday
"Pascal's Triangle, but 3D": a tetrahedron of numbers where each number is the sum of the three numbers directly above it. I've written out the first eight layers, before "stopping here b/c I don't wanna write 4 digits in one square [of graph paper]". This is then followed by some "Observations": "Rows in layers are multiples of rows of 2D Pascal's Triangle" "Add #s in each layer "1, 3, 9, 27, 81, ...     powers of 3" "What happens when we add 'columns' w/i layers? "1 "2 1 "4 4 1 "8 12 6 1 "16 32 24 8 1 "Very very interesting... "This is powers of (x+2), which I know as describing the features of an n-dimensional hypercube"

Tonight will mark one full year of me keeping a private journal. If anyone is looking for something to commit to for this coming year, I highly recommend it; it's a great place to be vulnerable and write about whatever you're feeling every once in a while.
