In fact so far most indications are that I will eventually (sadly) be proven right. I’d love to be wrong but I’ve seen this movie too many times already

I respect the pragmatic attitude but I have so little faith in the benefits coming back to Canadians - aside from geopolitical issues of course. Given the way we’ve handled petrocorps in this country I am hesitant to believe that this time will be different with mining or LNG

The other thing is that I think it’s hella misleading to pump up these “clean energy projects” as if we’re making progress, then using the power for mining and fossil fuels. At BEST we’re cutting into the new emissions, at worst we’re producing much, much more. Keep in mind imports are F.Fuel

Also, if these resource extraction projects were actually generating enough power on site then there’d be no need to expand transmission capacity to meet their needs lol

Sure and in theory I agree that if you’re going to need more capacity you’re going to need more transmission, but like I said BC already has to import 20% of their usage. Even if they add 5000 GWH w the new projects they’re still short 8000 - assuming demand stays flat which it prob won’t

Those projects won’t be online for at least another 8 years and I just looked up where they’re building it - it’s hilarious how predictable that was to guess. Absolutely nothing to do with clean power LOL

There’s already many examples (in BC, this past week) of data centres & resource extraction creating extreme drought conditions - in theory I’m with you but I don’t see where their plan is coming close to the reality we are in & are going to face in the near future

Quebec is a net exporter of hydro, but we’re gonna need a lot more than just hydro if we’re simultaneously going to be pumping the aquifers dry to cool data centres. I am begging ppl to think about this rationally: the gestures/words by this govt say they’re all-in on AI & fossil fuels, not green

I agree that Canada needs to go all-in on green energy yesterday but I am extremely skeptical that 1) anyone is actually interested in doing that and 2) that any of these projects will do much to affect that. Sounds to me like they’re doing the complete opposite lol

I’m not understanding why we need more lines to begin with. They already are at peak generating capacity with Site C fully online and had to import 1/5th of total power last year. Not to mention the persistent drought conditions which will affect future levels of hydro produced.

Sigh all those hours I spent training to be an elite customer service agent back in the 2000’s gone to waste. People won’t even let you speak to their supervisor anymore :(
Because, you know….their supervisor is CHAT BOT

Pretty cool! We got a shitload of snow so the only “Aurora” we’re seeing is the fake green one everyone always gets psyched out by from the Desjardins tower 😂
